I've been working the same job doing tech support/training/subject matter expert on software for over a decade and I just took the first actual away from work vacation in five years. It took a few days to realize how much work I usually do while on vacation, be it looking at Slack for any urgent matters, checking email to make sure everything is handled, or checking voicemail. Thanks to this sub however I understood that my time off is mine and if work can't “work” without me that's their problem. A 9 day cruise later and I am more relaxed than ever and even being home will let work wait until I am getting paid.
