I just need to vent. I work at a place that day one I they gave me the tools to work remote. Day shift is the only shift who has to come to the office. On holidays day shift can work from home. I'm on a day shift and a contractor.
But ……
If you get sick you have to take a sick day. You can't opt in to remote from home. So instead they are okay that someone comes in and gets everyone sick. I get caught up in that and also get sick. My contract doesn't have sick days, and I get denied to work from home. They state policy is sick days for sickness no remote work. Okay guess I go into the office and continue the spread
My SO gets a minor medical issue that she might have to go into the ER. My benefits didn't start yet. Ask again for remote work in case I have to drive her in to avoid ambulance costs. Nope, take unpaid sick day. Stayed home, missing out on 9hrs of work for a total of $350.00 for the day. SO in pain and up all night even tried to beg me to go to work before passing out.
Then after all that, an intern that only does part time work (15-20hrs a week) gets to work from home for being sick. Not mad at the intern it's not there fault. Management is being inconsistent and confusing.
Like WTF, what's the god damn policy.
Rant over, still mad and confused
