Toxic boss? Or too Sensitive?

So I have a hot headed boss. This boss has used profanity when things don’t go their way in meetings or when they are disappointed in our work. Today was no exception. This boss also has not concern with building up their staff to succeed. Only concerned with their work reputation. I work for a large company that “values it’s employees”. We have yearly audits of our work that can potentially impact contracts. Today I was called on the phone by this boss who stated by me not putting one case number on two letters, I could potentially cause our entire dept to fail the audit and “make me (my boss) lose their fucking job”… and they proceed to tell me that we have had countless meetings about this…. (One in the past 5 months per my calendar)…. And “for the fucking love of god, get it together.” I want…

I want to add that we are understaffed, have no written procedures on internal work flow, and this letter was written the week I returned from bereavement of an immediate family member. So I probably was not in the best headspace.

The call made me cry when I got off bc I’m a top performer. Am I being too sensitive? Or was I just verbal abused by management?
