It's been a hot minute since I last had a job as I went back to uni. Now that I want to get an internship/ part time job I am beyond shocked at the hoops they're making us jump.
A company I spoke to has told me that they don't have the budget for the department, hence the INTERN WILL BE THE DEPARTMENT! Is that supposed to excite me? They proceeded to send me an “assessment” which was approximately 10 tasks. And for some reason it feels like I might now get hired, so I don't see why they want me to do it. A lot of the tasks are actually very labour intensive as they require me to draw up plans and proposals for the upcoming year, direct their product launches and what not!
If I don't get hired, and they still use my ideas I wouldn't he surprised.
I thought I was desperate and applied. Sorry, I am not this desperate.
Is this the norm? Are people still exploiting workers?
