Turn it back around on them

When someone says a person is “entitled” because they need a living wage, tell them it’s corporations who feel entitled to record profits by underpaying workers. If they say someone feels “entitled” to a job for wanting a union, remind them that corporations are feeling entitled to keep employees in the dark about competitive wages and benefits. When someone complains about the “talent deficit,” remind them that if corporations were paying their fair share of taxes, schools could be improved. I could go on; I’m sure you have examples of conversations you’ve been in where this was effective.
