UK advice needed

My partners relationship with his boss has been deteriorating over the past few months. He has recently been suspended pending an investigation that they had scheduled a meeting for.. His DR however has advised that he should be signed off sick with stress so he couldnt attend this meeting. He has now been told he needs to be assesed by a DR of his employers choosing. Has anyone else been in this sort of situation could perhaps pass on some advice related to this as having to be assesed by another DR rather than his own is causing him even more significant stress. Partner suffers from anxiety and has recently been prescribed Propanalol. The dosage was hard for him to get used to and he was managing it with his DR but his employer has said 2 people have accused him of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs…
