So I live in a very inequality economy. Like 70% of the people struggles to feed, study, work with dignity and put a roof over their heads. The other 28% are hard working middle class, the ones that pay more taxes than corporations, and the 2% left, are the rich and wealthy, usually corrupt politicians and entitled corporations owners. Capitalism at its finest evil.
Like 8 years ago, I was working for the government. Had a good income but with no benefits so I started to look for a new job. Found an offer for a PR position working for the UK Embassy. They called me and I went to the interview. Everything went fine, I had a lot of experience working for the government, social and private sector so I was confident. However, when I was told about the salary, I went in shock because I couldn't believe the UK offered such a low income for such an important position.
I mean, the offer was 500 dollars a month for a full time job. I was making 4.500 dollars a month!
I told them, Is this really what the UK is offering for liaison in my Country? I know we are a very poor Country but we still have to pay for housing, education, living! Can you match my actual income? – No, this is the budget for this position and won't change. I looked at them appalled and said, Isn't the UK a rich European nation with labor laws? This isn't a poor town in the jungle you know. We live in a 4 million people city.
Why do They think can get away with offering pennys for a demanding job in struggling nations? Oh yeah, They had done this for centuries. Silly me
