For more context, I work in Housekeeping under a Zero-Hour contract and the business has been extremely quiet all January. January is usually a quiet time, but it's never been this bad before. To add to this, I'm only available Saturday and Sunday, as I attend University Full-time.
Currently, they have two people on the same job (that I know of) who are on fixed hour contracts, so the business has to give them their hours first – before dishing out the rest of the work (if there's anything left by that point) to the rest of us.
The wage is honestly good for what it is and I was wondering if now's the right time to look elsewhere for work – or if the business will pick back up again soon (work hands the rotas out for the week ahead on a Saturday, so no-one knows what's happening ahead of that)?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
