Union question.

I want to start a union at my job. Don’t know where to start and would like advice. For context, a group of us just got hired on for a corporate company. At first we thought the pay was pretty decent, but as we all started realizing what the job actually entailed, it being both physically extensive, and a high level sales job; that the pay was not worth what we were making. A few of us are very close friends from school and beyond, so the idea of starting a union came up, but we all didn’t know where to start. From the looks of it too, we’d be the ones bringing it to this company because a lot of people enjoy the work that they do in other locations. Don’t get me wrong it can be a very rewarding job, and there are opportunities to make small amounts…

Don’t get me wrong it can be a very rewarding job, and there are opportunities to make small amounts of bonus. (By which I mean up to a few bucks) However, it’s still a retail corporate job. Which means come holiday season and beyond, a bit of corporate mandatory rules which abuse employees legally will be in place. By which I mean forced OT, being on call even when off the clock or not scheduled, and high sales expectations. On top of the customer abuse too, we’d just like to be protected and compensated.

There’s no AC in our buildings and it gets very hot in the stores, especially as group after group after group of people are just piling in and out all day. There’s also barely any security which means if things got physical with a customer, we’d get hurt before someone was able to step in.

So all in all, we just would like to know how to begin. Thank you in advance for the advice.
