My wife's boss has his employees read a book together as a company once per quarter. They have a meeting every Monday, and part of that meeting is going over the reading, like a book club.
Her boss basically put her in charge of this book club, wanting her to come up with topics to discuss, etc. However, she's not getting paid for the time she spends putting this together, and I don't think anyone else is getting paid for their reading time.
She's an hourly employee in the state of Utah. I want her to confront him about this, but she doesn't want to unless I can prove to her that this requirement is illegal. Any specific labor laws or acts would be very helpful.
