Unreasonable interviewing process

I am interviewing for a company (I am currently not working). The company wants me to come in for three days to “see how they work” and to see “if I’m a good fit”. I said ok and those days were going to happen this week. My husband has emergency surgery and it is a dire situation at the moment. I emailed the company and explained everything. I need a job. I really do. But is this a red flag? How can he not understand? Should I have my husband’s surgeon write me a note (joke, but maybe)?
