Upper management cares more about the profits from ice than employees!

I imagine that we are all aware of heat wave Zoey. So during the last heat wave , they provided us Gatorade and otter pops (frozen treat) for free. I know that’s not the norm for most places, but it’s a small growing company. Well, medium now, getting to be big and corporate. This time… there are still otter pops. Probably left over from the last one. No Gatorade. At first I’m thinking “okay, the general manager doesn’t work today. Maybe she’ll get some tomorrow?”. Nope. Been days of 90+. No intentions of getting us help. We are met with a big container of ice water in the break room. Not out of kindness. The general manager said that she put it there so the employees would stop taking the ice that’s for the iced coffee drinks we sell. It’ll help our profits.” I sincerely doubt that she is going…

It’ll help our profits.” I sincerely doubt that she is going to get Gatorade for us.

I will gladly delete my post if I am wrong, and there is Gatorade or reasonable aid for heat exhaustion.

Many of us can’t afford AC in our apartments, our cars, or even to have a car.

I’m aware that them providing this is an extra thing that is not common practice. I am grateful for the help, especially when I have to spend hours frying food for them. It is so hot in the small fry room.

I was just surprised to see them being kinda generous. Not many companies are that nice. They should be nicer. I know it’s not the norm.

Therefore I was pleasantly surprised to see “oh they’re not so bad”. But nope. Even if it was a PR stunt, I would’ve taken those electrolytes. I am living off ramen and cereal here. So any free food is a major help.

They are so greedy that they care more about ICE, cheap frozen water?!

That’s what is wrong with corporate America – here’s just small proof that the higher ups care more about profits than the well-being of people that give their time and labor for survival. F**k corporate.

Treat us better.
