it’s been a while since i posted on here (mainly because my job isn’t a hellish worksite anymore thanks to university standards & union rules) but nevertheless upper management continues to astound me on how stupid they are all, considering they get paid 6 figures to make the ‘best’ decision.
my supervisor has been showing signs of getting burnt out for a couple of months, like he’s been here for 15+ years, starting from the bottom and working his way to a supervisor position. Him and one other supervisor are the only ones who have been here for more than two years. They’ve gone through 20+ supervisors in the past FIVE YEARS.
my supervisor is absolutely the sweetest thing and really is looking out for the people under him (knows realistic expectations and doesn’t want us to work harder than our wages) at my annual review he finish the meeting with “is there anything i can do to improve, is there anything i’m doing good so far?” like this dude deserves more than the measly 25/h for everything he does.
Anyways, the source of his burnout (i think) directly relates to our manager. Our manager has been here for 3(?) years, and has been the source of our departments main issues. She’s never worked the job (custodial) and doesn’t understand the realities of our job (IE: we’re not gonna try to do a lot of hard work when students are running around with their heads cut off during finals week). She has had a lot of accusations directed towards her and throws all the work onto my supervisor because he’s the one who’s been here the longest, and knows the most.
We even had a meeting (no upper management was there) with one of the big wigs who controls operations and we all basically screamed for our manager to get canned, majority of my coworkers even provided proof that she’s a piece of shit and doesn’t do anything good for us except those who suck up. We are all really expecting for her to get canned, and she is expecting it too, as my supervisor told me that she moved out all her personal stuff from her office and has been using up her vacation days.
Im really hoping that my supervisor outlasts my manager, mainly because the reason why there’s not as high of a turnover rate for my position is because all the supervisors get trained by him, so they all understand realistic expectations and don’t make our lives a living hell.
it is so absolutely rare to see a good supervisor and i suppose this is me just venting about how upper management sucks dookie and for once, my supervisor makes my life at work better and shields me and my coworkers from (most) of the nonsense our manager throws at us.
