Hey guys,
I work in an IT company. Worked from home for last 2 years. Now they have been following hybrid model and want me to come to office 2-3 days per week.
Issue is I am alone with my mother in different state. And she has no one besides me. I showed my mother’s medical records to them. They said she has Hypertension and Osteoarthritis, it’s not a CRITICAL condition. So they can’t allow me to continue WFH.
Now I will have to shift back to another state as my office is in different state. And I can’t afford it tbh to move with my mother to a Tier 1 city. We are currently living in our hometown which is in tier 2 city and affordable. And also I don’t want to go to office. I am a QA engineer and my work can be done from laptop at home. I don’t want to spend daily 2-3 hours commuting to office and live far away from family.
It’s hard to find other job right now because I have notice period of 3 MONTHS. Most companies wont even consider people who are already not serving notice.
I need advice on what should I do right now? Resign and serve notice period and start job hunting. Or directly tell my manager I won’t come, you can fire me if you want. Or any other suggestions? Plz help me out.
