I have read lots of comments here now and It feels to me you guys in the US don't know what you fight for.
I know lots of u want WFH. I want this to be a thing more here too. But i think u guys first should fight for other things.
Here a list of benefits we have by law.
Small disclaimer i am from Europe. Austria.
I have:
25 days paid vacation. Unlimited paid sick days
13 christian or national holidays that are free and paid.
Universal health care with my kids insured with me
Unemployment benefits for up to 1 year.
1 year payed parental leave with 80% of wage or up to 3 years with fixed amount each month.
40 hours a week means 40 hours.
Collective bargains contract so i can check what my employer needs to pay me.
14 wages a year. 1 extra called holiday money in june and 1 extra called Christmas money in November. Both have only 6% income tax.
A workers chamber. They help you with working problems like employers not paying or paying enough and all that shit. They even sue your employer for u with no cost
Child tax benefits. Online tax filing.
Yes i pay a bit more in taxes but i get all this and i probably forgot something.
I think you guys should fight for 2 or3 things on this list first before you go for WFH
That said i hope everybody gets what they are fighting for. Stay strong and keep fighting
