US Student Loan Strike

I would like to start a discussion on the possibility of a strike on ALL student loan payments until actual reform is made to this predatory and unbalanced industry. Strikes have always been one of the best ways for regular people to collectively fight injustice. Let’s stop waiting on politicians and cancel these ourselves. Why would they agree to talk to us? Well, the thing is, we need to stop asking. If enough of us sign up for this, we will tell them the terms and they can come to the table to negotiate- or we can Thanos snap our student debts away ourselves. The system can take on a few of us but it can’t take on all of us.. It would be an extremely easy strike to participate in- rather than missing work, you’d simply have extra $ while striking, and I am guessing a significant group of people stopping payments could bring the industry to the table very quickly- nothing rattles a corporation more than the prospect of losing money. Of course we would need to make concessions as well- the exact terms are something we should all discuss below.

Before anyone goes off on me for trying to “pass the buck” or being lazy, you need to do some research, this has been a LONG TIME COMING, the student loan industry has been straight up robbing our best and brightest and raising the prices of schools through the roof, even worse they’ve passed legislation that protects their “investments” at the expense of entire generations. As one of the wealthiest and most powerful countries in the world there is no excuse for this, and we shouldn’t stand for it anymore, period..

PS: If you are curious, I don’t actually hold any student debt of any kind, I simply hate the direction this country is going, particularly for the younger generations, and I want change to make this place better for them. Other than that, I really don’t have a dog in this fight, but I hope the best for all that do. Never forget- the power is, and always has been with the PEOPLE.

And PPS this is a throwaway account, so although I will be watching the discussion and rooting for any who go for it- I may not respond a whole lot, especially to any dms
