US workers can’t afford to strike, but how can we afford *not* to strike?

How will anything change unless US workers collectively put pressure on Congress? Yes, it will hurt us individually in the short term but long term, how else are things going to change in any meaningful way? Most of us can barely make ends meet right now, during our prime working years, but a lucky few save for retirement and maybe even buy a house. What’s going to happen to us in 20 or 30 years when we can’t work anymore? Our grandfathers worked one job, and had 4-5 kids. One job supporting 6-7 people. We can’t even support our sad lonely single selves now, let alone a family. The government got a whole generation (and counting…) into this mess, what else will get us out of it?
