in the province of BC specifically
So here’s the situation… I’ve started working in November of 2021 for a company in BC under a temporary contract which was supposed to be until May of 2022 but lasted until August of 2022. During this time I got zero vacation days but received the 4% vacation payout on my paycheck. After my contract ended, I moved into another department in which I was awarded full-time status. They told me that vacation was “earned” in this department (I.e. I would have zero vacation for the rest of 2022 but since I started in august I would be allotted 50 hours for all of 2023). Also no longer would be receiving 4% payout even with zero vacation for the remainder of 2022. But since I had been working for that company since Nov 2021 I technically earned my 120 hours for 2023.
Fast forward to last week and literally two days before my first set of days off, they told me actually no that was an error and I only have 50 hours… wtf? Just wondering if this is legal and since it says all over my HR online portal and paystubs if I have some ground to stand on?
I’m already looking for other jobs but my partner is in a specialty field so the transition to another company may take a few months 🙁 appreciate any help!
