Former employee of mcdonalds here, specifically employed in the capacity of deliveries (accepting and processing deliveries to the store not making them out of it). The job description was exactly that, i was responsible for bringing new stock into the store that is unloaded from a truck, nothing more. As i walked into my “workplace” today i expected it to be dissimilar to other days in that i would follow my set routine and then leave, this was not the case as i was pulled into the office and informed that my employment would be terminated for failing to properly complete my duties, upon further enquiry it was revealed to me that the stick up his arse that my manager had centred around the fact that i had not been mopping the floors. This is a task i was never told to complete and cleaning the store was not an included function in my job description, i informed the manager as such but that did not seem to sway his power trip and i was sent home 15 minutes into my shift. I do not understand why employers must behave in this manner and quite frankly its disheartening to hear that your revenue stream may be terminated over such a trivial thing as not mopping a floor when i had never been told to do so.
