I was a Library Technician at a small medical library. My job entailed helping patrons find information, data entry, archiving articles, lending monographs, helping co-workers with computer problems.
I had been taking administrative courses at a local college.
I applied for a number of jobs at a larger library. Mainly in the administration or archival section. I had decided that if I didn’t get a job with them I would go a different direction career wise.
Two months later my boss brought in some administrators from that library, she pointed me out to these people and announced that all I did was data entry. Those folks chuckled. I never got a job interview with them.
I did get a entry level administration position with a company outside of the area. I haven’t looked back. I am doing well career wise.
When I had my exit interview I did mention how I felt when my administrator threw me under the bus.
