Waste of time and effort

I was always in the middle of the “anti-work” sentiment until it happened to me. I spent a month communicating and interviewing for a job; taking time from my vacation, work life and personal life to get the position. Eventually the CEO said I am slightly unqualified for the position I applied for, but loves me so much that they are going to hire me into another role. All of the back and forth between them and my recruiter. Finally, last Thursday my recruiter tells me “they are ironing out the details and will get back to me no later than tomorrow.” A week goes by with no response. I have checked in with the CEO, hiring manager, and recruiter to get any update. All silence. Finally I get a text back today from my recruiter telling me they aren't going forward with hiring me and wouldn't give a reason…

I haven't interviewed for a new job for close to 7 years but now I understand why people have such an “anti-work” attitude. All the time and effort wasted to not even give me the decency to tell me why.
