We need to talk about automation beyond “taking away jobs”

Most of the posts I see here regarding automation are focused on people losing their jobs. I get the economic pain that comes from that, however, I'd we truly want to live in a post-work world automation is a required component. We have to separate automation for capitalist gain from automation for freedom from work. There are necessary jobs in society that are unavoidable, such as harvesting crops. If we truly want to eliminate work, beyond just the capitalist wage slave model, we've got to look at how we can implement automation for the good of society.
