“We only do raises once a year.”

Don’t want to give too many details but , I work in the banking industry . Currently , my manager is in the process of leaving our branch and that leaves us with me and one other person. I started a few months ago and with my boss leaving I am being offloaded all of the daily operations for the bank . This has more than doubled my workload for the week . I figured I would give it a shot and see about a raise since I will be having to do a lot more work and I’m the only employee that has been there more than a week. I started a few months ago and with my boss leaving I am being offloaded all of the daily operations for the bank . This has more than doubled my workload for the week . I figured I would give it a shot and see about a raise since I will be having to do a lot more work and I’m the only employee that has been there more than a week. Well, the district manager did not agree with me at all stating that raises are only done once a year and that I should just do the work that I have been handed . I followed up with them and asked for a meeting to discuss this further since I am being undervalued at my new workload . They proceeded to never show up the day we scheduled and emails me later in the day that the decision is final and that they are “sorry” they couldn’t make it .

Well unfortunately for them, I hold all the cash and am now in charge of ATM, operations , and training the new employee. I’m in the process of looking for a new job but I can’t wait to show up the morning I get a new job and quit on the spot leaving them with no one with prior experience at our branch to figure it out and making our DM figure it out themselves. Just waiting to get some interviews and then will be out of this , all of it being prevented if they had shown they were committed to me with a raise 🙂
