Just as the title states, the retirement age in the US should be lower. Aside from Greece, Iceland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway, the rest of the entire planet retires at a younger age than US citizens.
Life expectancy:
Greece – 81.09
Iceland – 83.07
Israel – 82.7
Italy – 82.34
The Netherlands – 81.41
Norway – 83.21
United States….. 77.28 and Dropping
Only one country on that list has more “productive” workers than the US and that is Norway. They all have much better access to healthcare than Americans, most of them have some form of free healthcare. Many of them have maternity/paternity leave.
The current retirement age in the US has gone up to 67. What kind of work do you want me to do when I’m 67 years old? The average life expectancy in the US is 77. Why do we only get 10 years to live, during the most challenging years of our lives, after we retire?
They are chewing us up and spitting us out. Stand up.
