We tried this years ago at soft drink production plant that had been a employee for years, the day after we signed up with the union organizers the plant had all our names posted at the time clock for the world to see, we attended union meetings once a week, a non union meetings each & every work day at work, plus the all the available wall place around the time clock plastered with anti union crap, the company came back at us saying it would have to be all their locations country wide, the union changed it to just our plant’s production & warehouse workers, this went on for months, we got a raise which was officially against the rules during all of this but the union approved seeing it was in our favor, we wore our union pins & caps, (1 morning before production started on any of the 7 lines, I ran into the plant owner in the hallway, he looked at me dismayed because I was wearing some of union pins on my union hat, I was a long time employee & he knew me by name, he knew everyone by name, I asked him if we had short term disability coverage as a good size crowd was gathering around us, he said yes that we did, I waited for HR to open that morning, I stopped on my first break of the day to ask if we had short term disability insurance, I was told that no our company does not offer that). Well voting day finally came around, everyone voted, the votes were counted & we lost by 41 votes. We lost a lot of our privileges that we had before that & as rules changed, a notice was put up that we ever tried unionize in the future we would not be allowed to wear anything union anywhere on the said company’s land, the plant owner sold all his interests in his company shortly there after . . .
