I have been with my current employer for about 4 years. During that time I've applied for, two jobs within the organization and the response to both of them was exactly the same (additional details below).
Nothing, literally nothing. No acknowledgement of my application, definitely no interview, and not even a form letter saying we've decided to go in a different direction.
Details:
Position #1 – One year in to the organization, a position opened up. It would have been a, one step up promotion. Same department, different location. The position required a specific skill set, to which in my last job I traveled the country teaching people how to do this work and working as an engineer to improve the process. I was more than qualified for the job.
They gave it to their preferred individual, who now two years later will be terminated for poor performance.
Promotion #1 (#1 and only) – 2 years in, I was promoted a step up from my starting position. Not applied for, given directly to me. (Guess I was the preferred individual this time).
Tried to negotiate salary, 95% certain HR did not report my counter offer to the “hiring manager”
Position #2 – I applied to another position after the promotion but was outside the required waiting period after starting a new role for the company. This one is in a different department and would be a lateral move. This is the field I have my Masters of Science in and was well qualified for the position.
Employee Reviews – my reviews have always been glowing.
Company Policy – Per the HR SOP all internal canidates are to be interviewed and recieve feed back on their application.
Anyways just spent 16k on an MS with the hopes of actually using it. For me it was less the money and more the time commitment.
Oh well what are you going to do. 🤷
