“Well company policy says…”

Blatantly illegal stuff like wage theft, so often so that illegal company policies seem more common than not. As a relatively small example: When I got hired at my current job the hiring manager told me that if my toddler was ill and I (being a single parent) had to call in to watch him a total of 5 times in any 6 month period, that I would be fired for it. All of my unpaid family medical leave requests have been declined so far despite haveing doctor's appointments and notes, and I likely will end up being fired over attendance occurances due to child care. I got denied covid leave despite providing positive tests. Share some of the policies you've been subjected to that are held above the law?
