Well that was weird

21f here, and I just the shortest and sourest interview in my life a couple hours ago at a new cafe in town looking for an extra cook. Just a part time job to make up for the huge dent in my bank account after moving towns for school. My family owns multiple successful restaurants where I worked during my youth (weird nepotism, I was extremely overworked. Was doing 50+hr weeks at only 16) , and have been in many more for the past six years. In short, I have some experience in the kitchen. You’d think that would be wanted in an up and coming restaurant, right ? Apparently not! So after waiting an extra 10 minutes for the manager to come out (the restaurant was empty), I was met by an older woman who just stared at me. No mask either, which is an instant red flag in a restaurant owner imo. Didn’t introduce herself or anything, just sat there and waited for me to say something for a minute or so. The only reason I mention this is because I find it strange to not want a skilled chef, but also want someone who takes the initiative in an interview? Bizarre. One of her first, and only questions, was wether or not I was vaccinated. When I said yes, she laughed. At this point I knew it wasn’t going to work out, but decided to stay because I wanted to be respectful. Anyways, after awkward small talk… she finally started the actual interview. Which was just me talking about myself, and I was literally provided no actual questions. Just different forms of ‘so tell me about yourself’, ugh. When I finally found a way to fit in my job experience, she instantly told me they were looking for a new chef and not a trained one. We say our goodbyes, and I left already knowing I dodged a bullet. Little did I know it was actually a missile. My friend sent me a recent Facebook post from the business account… and she had the audacity to complain about how no qualified workers want to apply?? The entire page is just anti-mask propaganda, and her complaining about not getting enough business yet (or at all, hopefully). It’s sad to see people so brainwashed put all their money into a business, and everyone else knows it will fail. Just a friendly reminder to check the business Facebook before heading into an interview, comrades! Have a wonderful day!
