Just put in my two weeks at my cliche small business-as-described-in-the-title job and my boss, who clearly took it personally, told me not to bother. He even said he’d rather push off projects so that I wouldn’t have to come in. So I get two weeks with no income before starting my new job, because I specifically told them I need to give my old boss notice. I don’t wanna go to the new place and say I can start earlier for fear of it looking bad that my old boss didn’t take my two weeks. But he’s truly just butt hurt that I won’t be taking over the business some day, which is what he seems to think I was going to do, even though I never said that.
There’s a lot of shit that made me want to quit this job, but the final straw was getting covid for two weeks. I know the CDC changed their guidelines but my boss would not let me come back till I got a negative test. I have no benefits through my old job so I was just without pay and I already live paycheck to paycheck, so I started rationing my top ramen…
I wouldn’t treat my family like that.
