As showcased in countless posts on this subreddit and through my own experience, the job market sucks right now and once you get that job, you quickly realize it's not as great as it seemed. The only way to get “good jobs” (aka a living wage in an environment that isn't soul-sucking) is through connections. So how does the regular person combat this?
What can a regular person do to create a better job market? How can a regular person reset this mindset that is being created where you either have to get multiple jobs or start creating multiple income streams to be able to afford all of one's needs and save for emergencies, retirement, etc.? And don't say there is no way to do this. There is always some way to make change and difference, but of course it's not an individualistic thing that can be accomplished overnight.
This is a problem bigger than just a “sucky job market” though, again, as highlighted in countless posts on this subreddit. The later we try to curb this rising problem that WILL NOT go away on its own, the harder it will be to do so. This problem is becoming so obvious that even those with large capital are starting to notice (at least in the USA). This is not a political issue, because it's not disputable if people are “worthy” to 1) pay for their basic needs and 2) save for emergencies, retirement, etc. There shouldn't be a question of if people are allowed to retire or not. If people right now who are 70+ y/o still have to work to continue affording to live, I can't imagine how bad this situation will be for anyone under say 30, 40, 50, or even 60 years old.
Because hey, this may be a hasty generalization, but as of right now, it looks like I'll likely work until I die either during work, or when I can no longer work. I'm not a robot though, I'm a person. And when people started being looked at as assets and liabilities rather than people, that's when we should have acted. But we didn't. And here we are. I'm tired of hearing complaining about everyone's similar situations, because nothing will happen until something is acted upon. So what is a solution that is attainable by the working class or commonwealth to the path we're going down? And how do we start creating that change?
