My company does a year end review in early January and raises for the coming year are applied…
In 2022, I was on 3 different teams, switched managers 4 different times, learned (then forgot) a series of skills and tasks, and had my duties and responsibilities adjusted more times than I can count – including being given a series of managerial-level reports to process, handed off to me during one of the managerial turnovers….2022 was nothing but boring.
Earlier this week, I meet with my “new” manager, who was my manager at the beginning of 2022 and we end up doing an impromptu “review” as I've only been on this new team for a few weeks…and, I get told of my “raise” for the new year…please note the quotes.
I know that some companies don't issue raises on a regular basis and that's why I don't work for those places…but, when I take on anything and everything thrown at me, dealing with re-org after re-org, and I kick ass at it, only to be given something that doesn't even match the current rate of inflation, it feels like a bit of a kick in the junk.
I'd bring this up but my manager has plateaued, in regards to salary, so whenever I brought up the topic of salary in the past, she's managed to derail the conversation with her issue…so, I'm updating my resume and I've starting my job hunt again…
I'm not actively looking for answers or solutions, as I know I need to move on and get something new…I really needed a place to get this off my chest outside of social media – thanks for listening/reading.
