Please forgive me if this is the wrong subreddit, I will go ahead and delete this post if it is.
I’m currently in Oregon and the company I’m working for is based in South Carolina. I am 100% remote as a salaried employee.
I’ve re-read the employee handbook and it states “Employees are expected to work 45 hours a week; 40 hours for project work and managed services, and 5 hours for professional development. Employees are entitled to take break periods during their workday. Break periods are typically between 0 to 60 minutes in length and are not considered paid time.”
I typically work from 6am to 3pm. Does this mean my daily 9 hour shift is equal to 8 real work hours and 1 hour of break? Or have I been not working the correct amount of hours am instead SUPPOSED to be working 9 real work hours PLUS an hour break?
A 10 hour shift seems fucky wucky and I thought the standard is a 40hr work week anyway?…
My employer hasn’t said anything about it, but I’m just curious since I record my own hours so every week it totals to at least 45hrs to include a 30min lunch and two 15 min breaks
