Idk if it's just me but I feel like nowadays every job especially for entry level wants a “self starter” that can “hustle” and goes “above and beyond” and is a “leader.” It's like just doing your job at work isn't even enough anymore. You have to work weekends, work long hours, take extra exams, and basically be this perfect employee. It's like the things that were once considered exemplary are now the norm.
I'm currently in an entry level role and have gotten zero training. I told my manager that I'm struggling and need help because I never got properly onboarded and she told me to “hustle” and be a “driver.” Note this is a role targeted to fresh out of college grads.
Anyone else noticing this? It's making it so unbearable to do my job. Does anyone know of any industries or jobs where this is less of the norm. My job is making me struggle so much mentally I can't take it anymore (I work in IT for a fortune 50 company btw).
