I see a lot of shade thrown at capitalism, and understandably so. It was the banner under which many of our economic policies were published. Now that things have soured, it is understandable to associate everything that went wrong with the capitalism that was shoved down our throats.
However, almost nobody talks about plutocracy when it comes to the same economic issues. It’s like everyone KNOWS that the wealthy control everything, but they can’t bring themselves to call that plutocracy.
In a plutocracy, the needs of the wealthy few outweigh the needs of the many poor. That’s what we’re upset about, right? Why are we using a different name for it? Sure, THEY call it capitalism, but why should we? Why are we using THEIR terminology, when that’s what allowed them to manipulate us in the first place?
Aren’t we just playing into their hand by agreeing to call it capitalism? Isn’t that why they say things like, “No one wants to work”? Because if we agree that it’s capitalism, yes you have to work to make money. But it’s not. It’s plutocracy. They just pick their favorites, and everyone else is screwed.
