What is Up with the Lack of Hiring?

This is a bit of a rant. My partner is recently graduated (as of December) and has been applying to work non-stop. So far he's had a limited number of interviews in his field, and the rest have been rejection letters. He was in the final running for something recently and got that rejection letter yesterday, where they went with someone with more experience (of course). He has an Associate's degree, a Bachelor's degree in game design, and while he lacks professional experience (from being on disability for a few years, off of it now) he has a lot of technical skill and a desire to learn anything. Most times he doesn't even get an interview. He's been rejected from McDonald's. He's been rejected from Gamestop and Target. He's been rejected from the local grocery store. I just can't fathom why no one anywhere will give him a chance. He…

I just can't fathom why no one anywhere will give him a chance. He just wants his foot in the door and to make money, and I want that for him too.

TL;DR: Job hunting sucks.
