What should I do here? Manager issues.

So a few days ago I had an enquiry for my manager regarding parental leave. I sent him an email, well worded and professional. No more than 5 minutes later I receive what can only be described as the opposite. The first line read ‘Dear Dickhead’.. I’ll leave out the personal details, but he goes onto say ‘I’m sitting here in my dressing gown and slippers’ and at the very end ‘P.S. I don’t own a dressing gown, I’ll let your imagination do the rest’. While I understand this could be interpreted as humorous, I did not appreciate it and found it rather creepy to be honest. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened either. Example of another incident. Back when covid hit and the first vaccine was introduced, after he had gotten the jab, he approached me with hands on hips swinging, saying ‘do you want…

While I understand this could be interpreted as humorous, I did not appreciate it and found it rather creepy to be honest. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened either.

So it’s at the point now where I feel a bit sexually violated. Do I go to HR or have a chat with him personally? I’m afraid if I go to HR, there will be backlash from the rest of the staff as he is a pretty popular person among most people.

I’m really torn here guys. Should I just look for another job?
