One of my closest colleagues and direct reports was let go last week, unbeknownst to me (I was OOO when it happened and she told me today). I work extremely closely with her, both internally and externally with clients and she continuously overdelivers and outperforms expectations.
Our CMO put a random meeting on her cal last week to let her know that she wasn’t performing at a level they expected and they’d be letting her go. No one else at the company has been fired or let go in the last 6 months (only about 100 employees at our company). I am livid about this decision and also offended that as the person who works most closely with her I was never asked about her performance before this decision was made. I obviously don’t want to burn any bridges and plan to stay at this company myself, but how can I communicate to our executive team my disappointment at this situation in a professional way? Thoughts and suggestions welcome.
