The average cost of a home in my town is 349,000 dollars. My parents bought their home for 133,000 dollars back in the early 2000s and my grandparents bought their (large) home for 14,000 dollars back in the 70s. And yes, this is all in the same town.
I make 15.25 an hour. I'm 24 with six years of work experience. I worked with the general public for the entirety of Covid. All my efforts amount to nothing.
I am enraged. I want a good life. I want a job I don't hate. I want to start a family. I don't want to waste the remainder of my youth earning a fraction of what I deserve. My ancestors came to this country to build a better life for themselves. They escaped oppression in Germany and famine in Ireland. They fought in wars and survived illnesses we don't even have to worry about anymore. If they can do that, surely we can tell the corporate snakes to suck it.
My theory is that once the entirety of Gen Z enters adulthood and realizes how fucked we all are, there will be massive protests on a scale never before seen. These corporate bastards won't know what hit them.
I have not yet begun to fight!
