I currently work in construction as a cadet site engineer, I’m in at work at 7:00 am and I leave around 5:30/6:00 pm. I always have my work for the day done by 4:30 latest, the time spent from 4:30 on wards is always doing nothing.
My coworkers have said “this is just how it works, you stay until the boss wants to go”, they then proceed to complain about how they have no time aside from work, for anything.
I want to speak to my boss about creating a roster for people staying late, it’ll boost our productivity during the day and I will feel better about work.
Anyone got any tips for me? I am really unsure about what to do.
TLDR: Working long hours, end of day no one does anything, I want to leave but we “can’t”. Any help to approach this situation please!
