Why are they acting like their mistake is MY fault?

So I was working with a hiring agency to deliver prescriptions for $18 per hour. My last shift a less experienced staff was sending me to deliver. You could tell he was still learning … but whatever. He must have been new. Anyway, mid delivery I get notified that a script was picked up by another courier. I was already on my way. The delivery was due by 8 and I was about to drop it off well before 8, however it was still in the 6PM-8PM window. I thought it was weird, but whatever. A mistake was clearly made. Anyway, so I turned back and the pharmacy was closed and they had a sign up stating that they’d be closed until they passed inspection (typically there’s one person there and they’re the ones who unassigned my delivery … so shouldn’t they know I’d be back there with the script…

Also, the guy who has been there awhile gives me orders closer to the pharmacy towards the end of the day for that reason. The new guy made me go back and fourth through the out the day (but whatever … despite me using my own car and gas I get paid well and by the hour) but I still made it back to the pharmacy by 8:03 which isn’t that much later than closing time … and it was clearly THEIR mistake (plus there’s typically someone still there a bit after 8PM and a closed for inspection sign was up) but when I dropped off the sealed brown bag today … the pharmacist there acted like it was my fault ugh. Whatever, it’s still a fun and easy job. Btw, we have no idea what we’re dropping off. The product is in a well sealed cardboard bag. We just see name, delivery window time frame , address and instructions for delivery of provided.
