A problem I've been dealing with the last few weeks especially at my workplace is the almost feeling of resentment from some coworkers, whether it be people at my level or higher up.
It has nothing to do with my work or my attitude at work, it has to do with how I choose to spend (or not spend) my time outside of work. Everyone from work seems to hang out with each other, constantly going to bars and other places. I'm not about that so I don't go. But now people keep piling on and seeming to turn me into the joke now that I don't spend my time doing their kinds of stuff.
It's getting worse because now it's spread its way to higher up's who now are now making me the butt of the jokes, calling me out/laughing at me for reasons that have nothing to do with work. It's nothing offensive, I just get annoyed having to hear about these kinds of things.
I don't care if they think this stuff is just “busting balls”, I just want to show up to work, do my job, go home at the end and just enjoy my regular life however I chose to do so. But the more I say no, the more people try to egg me on to try and hang out or go places with them, and it's getting to the point where not going could actually impact my job.
