I feel like America's obsession with individualism is also fueling the capitalistic mindset that is so common in this country. If you have a “Fuck you I got mine” attitude then why not just become a solitary animal? What is the point of a government or civilization at all if your goal is not to work together to serve the greater good (which doesn't exclude anybody because everybody is part of the greater good.) By helping the community improve one is simultaneously helping themselves. Where did this Uber individualism to the point of stupidity and flat out malevolence come from in America?
