Current job aside, (we are having monstrous staffing problems so I am not holding my manager directly responsible for it, as those above her are having issues getting people to start) why have the last 3 job I had threatened me with possible termination because I sometimes have to miss work to care for my family. My mother is 71 (and all the health problems thst brings plus diabetes) and a part time worker, my spouse is disabled (no “proof” yet as diagnosis for chronic issues in the US are nearly unobtainable) and I have a child less than 2 years old to care for.
Yet, somehow, missing work is a massive threat to some of my previous employers. Yes, I am a damn hard worker, and not paid nearly what I think I should be, but for some reason my spouse and mother's chronic issues have, on numerous other occasions, caused me to get warned about potential termination. This job I allow exception for because the current manager is brand new to the position and trying to do her best to improve things.
With the short-staffing problem, me calling out once is apparently enough to start saying “make the medical issues go away or we may have to terminate you.”
Such bullshit
