Why is the future so f*cked?

I’m a high school special education math teacher, teaching in one of the areas with the highest cost of living in the US. Today we started a personal finance unit and I was asking my students how much they think it costs to live alone here – and how much they think they would need to earn a month and it was heartbreaking hearing their responses. They thought rent was like $1000 max and they would be ok earning 2,000-3,000 a month. I make around 75K a year and have 2 roommates because rental prices are literally insane to where I would need a second job to afford a 2 bedroom for me and my kid. I literally can’t even imagine what the future will be like for these poor babies. And we haven’t even achieved a $15 minimum wage which in my area should be like no less than…

I literally can’t even imagine what the future will be like for these poor babies. And we haven’t even achieved a $15 minimum wage which in my area should be like no less than $30. Just needed to vent because it’s honestly just too upsetting see how quickly we are progressing into full serfdom.
