My wife manages a coffee shop. The owner of the business is not very involved or interested in the day to day operations. My wife showed interest to him about taking over the lease when his was up but he did not go for that. She understood and thanked him for the consideration. She has also been very upfront with him about wanting her own space ever since he has employed her. She has worked for him for 4 years. My wife has now found a good spot and is going to open up her own bakery/coffee shop. She told her boss and gave him a 2 months notice so that he had time to replace her and she could train the new manager. He wouldn't speak to her for 2 days and once he finally did talk to her, he sat her down with 2 other managers and had a business meeting about his personal feelings. He told her it was a slap in the face and that she used him to start her own business. Now he is telling everyone how what she is doing is wrong and it is starting to make her feel that way.
Back story on her, she has a culinary degree, has ran multiple different restaurants successfully, has had her own catering business and has been in the industry for a little over a decade.
Who do you think is in the wrong? I think her boss is. I also use to work for him and I personally can't stand the guy. She has tried to be extremely professional during all of this but is being beat down emotionally.
