This happened a while ago, but I thought worth sharing. Wife (at the time partner, and immigrant not aware of her rights) resigned from her casual job at Tie Rack Australia about a week before Xmas. Utter bitch of a boss said she was disappointed and that she needed to give 2 weeks notice and she would be expected to work that time, as she would have to cover it otherwise.
Wife called me crying over how badly she was treated and that she would miss the schedule holiday we booked. I however informed her that as a casual she could quit without notice. She relayed to the bitch and realising she was trapped proceeded to chew wife out. Who then quit on the spot based on what I told her. I then spoilt her rotten on the holiday just to make up for it.
Fuck those who abuse casual workers, especially when they think they can get away with it because they are immigrants.
