My wife and I found out we’re having our first baby and she got a doctors note to be put on light duty at her job. It’s been a month and she’s gotten no response to it. She works in a psych ward with at risk youth who the courts deem unfit to be in their homes due to mental illness or criminal records. The kids can be pretty aggressive and part of the job is conflict resolution when tensions get high. She routinely has to physically restrain kids as they try to be aggressive whether it’s fighting other kids or staff. I don’t want her to get hurt and put our baby at risk. I’m pissed off that her HR department is so inept as to not process her light duty request even after a month. She’s a ball of anxiety even being on the floor knowing her kids might target her. She’s tried to get ahold of HR but she gets auto emails saying it could be up to 72 hours until HR responds and up to this point they’ve never responded. This is a State job as well. What can we do. I’m pissed off.
