Will I ever “live”? Or will I just survive til I die?

I’m a full time nanny. I make $20/hr watching one kid. My job is super laid back. It pays the bills (barely) but still left negative at the end of the month. The sad part is, if I want to afford things like food, shelter, gas, etc. I have to cut my budget of “fun” entirely. My days now consist of working, going home, making dinner out of left over scraps, sleeping at 10pm then up at 7am to do it all over again. This is all including money from my part time babysitting gigs. I left corporate america to pursue my dream of working with children. I love every second of it but am starting to realize maybe the only real way to make money is to kiss the ass of “the big guy”, bite the bullet and go back to a desk job.

Now in the midst of this economical crisis, the love of my life and I are getting married. I dreamed of a nice wedding. Nothing major, 50 people in a church with a nice reception after. I’ve decided that maybe we have to cut costs entirely on the wedding as well. I’ve even thought about eloping.

When do we begin to find financial freedom? Or any freedom at all? I feel like I will be chained to a job until I’m 70 only to live out my remaining years on the little life savings I’ll have. If you have any tips of budgeting through out these economically hard times, it will be appreciated.
