Women at my job treated differently than men

I recently started a new job in a restaurant and have noticed some oddities regarding the division of labor. The female chefs are started at an easier position (they get paid the same as the male cooks) that takes less time to set up,less time to close down, less physically demanding, and much cleaner. I am told they want us to learn our positions before switching but other male employees have been in the position for months. My issue isn't with my female coworkers, my issue is with management. I've never worked in a kitchen with such a blatant gender divide and think I should quit.
