I’d like to apologize in advance, I’m typing this on mobile.
I’ve been working for a ski company that’s quite popular globally for a little over 2 years now. I’ve worked my way up from a front desk agent to where I am now, a middling supervisor in housekeeping. It’s been a long journey getting to the point I am now, but let me try to provide context. Me and two of my good friends who are in the exact same position as me, along with our contract labor, have been cut as soon as our seasonal workers got here in early December. Both of the aforementioned groups hold this place down all year. We get more employees for winter because we’re a ski resort. They initially told us two weeks of hours cut then we’re back to normal. It’s been a month at this point. I don’t take a lot of sick time or PTO in case of shitty events like this or sickness, but I’ve so far used 24 of my saved hours to make up for the cut in hours. It’s hard to convey from a reddit post, but I don’t fuck around when it comes to my employment. I’m never late, I always finish tasks to completion, I always try to have a smile on my face. I even help out other departments when I do not have to. I don’t think it’s egotistical to say that I’m a team player. I’ve never been disciplined or reprimanded. I’ve covered shifts when people call off. I am damage control when someone during the AM shift messes up a room inspection. I just feel so defeated. This is my first career job out of college. I thought doing right by others means they’ll do right by me. I see how nieve I was now.
Edit: Forgot to pose the question, any tips on what I can do? I’m in the state of Utah.
TL;DR: Worked for company for 2 years no issues, as soon as we’re not starving for people, they cut everyone whose here year round’s hours.
